The fact that the change was SO drastic and quick tells me that they probably brainstormed other stupid ideas for way too long and this is literally absolutely the last thing they can do. I really would hope that the people in charge are not stupid and egotistical enough to think that this wouldn't utterly destroy them. It was pretty well known on the internet that the points system was the best thing about them.
This is so bittersweet. I met so many of you amazing ladies through the Birchbox threads, so its kinda like the end of an era of sorts. At the same time, I was so fed up with them when I left, I couldn't stand getting more mid tier lotion and shampoo/conditioner duos for color treated hair. At a certain point the points just weren't worth it for me anymore when I was amassing products I didn't care about at all.
Its unfortunate that they seem obsessed with being the next (or even topping) Ulta/Sephora. I realy don't think there's going to be any company that tops one of the those two any time soon unless they come up with some really innovative way to redefine brick & mortar shops.
