I have only purchased a few beauty items from Birchbox over the years. I have generally felt like I could get a better deal elsewhere, and the selection isn't always great. I have really enjoyed spending my review points (and extra $) on lifestyle items. I miss the days when Birchbox carried Harney & Sons and Kusmi teas and had a better notebook selection.
I used a code for a free Baggu tote (a $9 item) with a $45 purchase the last time I placed an order with Birchbox. I was notified a couple days after my order was shipped that they had run out of the GWP and I would not be receiving one. I was pretty irritated by this. They may have run out of the old designs that they were sending out as GWPs, but it's an item that they sell in the store and had shown as in stock. They should have just included one of those since it was their own fault that they oversold the GWP. I wrote to customer service, because it's pretty crummy on their part to leave me with nothing, especially since there was a 15% off code and several other GWP options at the time that I could have used instead. I was "compensated" with 50 points. I will really miss the old days of Birchbox. There's really nothing enticing me to remain a customer at this point.
