I used to use the Zombie 5k app pretty often when I was still running It was a lot of fun. I do recommend the couch to 5 k program for anyone trying to get into it. I also did the 5-10k, 10k-half marathon programs that are set up in a similar way. Easing into running is definitely the way to go. I never ran a mile until I was in my late 20's, I used to hide in the woods and smoke during gym class.
Another good app is Rock my Run. It's running playlists and you can stream a lot of them for free. It is a battery hog but I loved it for running because I could get the right tempo because a lot of them keep certain bpm. I only like club music when I'm running so I don't exactly own a lot--that fulfills that need really well. There is a good mix of genres too.
I have my first followup for suture removal next week so I am hoping they will clear me to swim so I can get my laps on before I start having to battle the summer pool schedule and screaming kids.
