I need to vent about something before I have a breakdown.
My husband has a retired police k9 pushing 14. He's blind, deaf, and has bad hips from all the training he used to be subjected to. He was an apprehension dog and though he's not animal aggressive, he WAS human aggressive. Well now he's just old and couldn't care less about biting; he wants his food and to be left alone to sleep.
He wandered off Christmas Eve and we searched neighboring woods relentlessly but didn't find him. Luckily, on Christmas Day, we discovered he'd been picked up by a neighbor and was just chilling at his house all cool like. The neighbor even said he literally PICKED HIM UP to get him into his truck because he was having trouble walking and thought he'd been abandoned in the woods. The dog didn't want to bite this stranger so he's clearly not much of a threat anymore.
Now my brother is pushing HARD for us to have him euthanized because he's a "liability" to everyone and my 1yr old son. Uhm, no. The dog never has access to my son and he sleeps around the clock when he's not eating or pooping. My brother was so mean about it we cancelled plans to travel to see them this weekend and then acted like he didn't care.
I'm so hurt and angry now. First of all, he's not my dog so I don't get to decide when he's put to sleep. But most importantly, why do other people feel they have the right to force their agenda when they don't even know details surrounding a particular circumstance!?! I'm still seething.
Edit: Holy proofreading, Batman! I shouldn't post in the middle of the night when I'm sleepy and angry.
