In Snowpocalypse 2017 news: Whew, cat food acquired! It was getting into dangerously low territory. Like probably not going to last through the weekend, and the streets are not going to be drivable for me until probably Thursday, so we're screwed. I was heading out to the bus (this entire city is a sheet of packed snow and ice, so driving my little car isn't an option right now) to go to the vet to get some of their special prescription food when I realized that my neighbor with the Volvo is home this weekend (he works for a hotel/casino far enough away that he essentially lives there for a couple of weeks at a time, so he's not always home on a regular basis). The prospect of walking to and from the bus stop was making me very, very nervous. He gave me a ride! It would be nice to have more kitty litter, but that situation is not as dire as the food was. I had been panicking over that. Once I can drive again, I'm definitely putting together a snowbound kit with shelf-stable absolute necessities like cat food, kitty litter, coffee, and toilet paper. I'm actually making a list.
(I had been thinking about joining my aunt and another neighbor to go shoe shopping because they were planning on going to a store that has Doc Martens, and I have some money set aside specifically for a new pair of Docs once I get around to going to a store with a decent selection of them, but my aunt is still recovering from a nasty cold and isn't feeling up to driving in this mess.)
(It's especially hard to stay home this weekend because this is not-rent-payday weekend, so I had been planning on running errands and doing shopping today before we knew we would be getting buried in snow this week. I put off all sorts of stuff in December because of prior rounds of snow plus the usual Christmas crowd hell that always makes me postpone things, and then we had snow again last weekend, and that was before the current round of snow Tuesday night, so my to-do list just keep getting longer and longer.)
