In this city, you can have hens but no roosters. A lot of people have hens, including my next door neighbor (it's entirely possible they will be in my driveway when I get home from work tonight because they live in a cage in his front yard, but sometimes he lets them out to, like, play in the grass strip right next to a very busy street or shit right next to my car or something). My brother had them for several years until they got central air and needed the yard space for that.
And some people have certain kinds of roosters even in the city. There was recently a post on Reddit from a guy looking for someone to walk his rooster back home every morning from a nearby park to a house he owned while it was without a tenant for a few weeks. Apparently, his rooster is some special kind that is allowed in the city, and it can get to the park but needs supervision getting home. Because of course he does, and because of course it does.
(I'm really getting sick of this city, but every time I try to leave, something catastrophic happens that ends up tying me here even more firmly than before.)
